Curriculum

Key Stage 3

 

In Years 8 - 10 the following Programmes of Study are followed:

  • Athletics
  • Dance
  • Gymnastics
  • Games – Hockey, Netball, Camogie, Gaelic Football and Tennis

GCSE

 

In Years 11 - 12 the following Programmes of Study are followed:

  • Games – Badminton, Volleyball, Handball, Tennis
  • Health Related PE – circuit training/pilates
  • Also, outside facilities are used i.e. Fitness First and Seven Towers Leisure Centre

 

GCSE Physical Education AQA Full Course 4892

Unit 3: Knowledge & understanding for the Active Participant

Written Paper – 1 hr 30 mins

80 marks – 40%

Scenario issued to centres in advance of the examination.           

Unit 4: The Active Participant

Practical Assessment

Controlled Assessment – 90 marks - 60%

4 assessments from at least 2 groups/ways of thinking: at least 2 as player/performer.

 

OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge National Certificate in Sports Studies

Unit 1 – Contemporary Issues in Sport (R051) 1 hour written paper

Unit 2 – Developing Sports Skills (R052) all moderated

Unit 3 – Sports Leadership (R053) all moderated

Unit 4 – Sport and the Media (R054)/Developing knowledge and skills in outdoor activities (R056) all moderated

A Level

 

OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in Sport (05409)

Unit 1 – Principles of anatomy and Physiology in Sport

Unit 2 – Sports Coaching

Unit 3 – Current Issues in Sport
